The exhibition: The architecture of structure
The exhibition about the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress architecture project is held at the Suwon Ipark museum of art until June 10th. It is located near Paldalmun and it takes about 20 minutes from Suwon station by taking bus number 35. You can take other bus such as number 999, 13 and 46.
Please notice that Suwon Ipark museum of art is closed on every Monday. The ticket price of this exhibition is 4,000 won but if you follow the Suwon city on the Kakaotalk, you can get a 50% discount. Also there are many other benefits for following Suwon city on kakaotalk such as entrance fee and Hanbok rental fee on discount. This event last until this year.
This exhibition shows the aesthetic value of Suwon Hwaseong fortress and interprets value of it on the contemporary perspective. Suwon Hwaseong fortress is built in era of Jeong Jo in Jo seon dynasty and designated to the UNESCO world heritage. It is the embodiment of filial love, respect of Jeong to his father, Sa-do crown prince. Also it is built by cutting-edge science and technology across the East and West. This exhibition discusses the cultural significance of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and reflects the modern idea and value on it. This exhibition is divided to 2 parts; first part is the urban memory: documenting life and second part is construction method: connect-cross.
And at the same time you can enjoy the other exhibition of ‘Not allowed to ban’ which is held until June 24th. It is about the fixed idea and stereotype of women. It questions the definition of women and what is the women-like. The year 2018 is the seventieth anniversary of Na Hyeseok who insisted the women’s right and reversed women’s role against at that time of society. So this exhibition is memorial of Na Hyeseok and deal with the contemporary idea of women. Also it protests the sexual objectification of women. It is good opportunity to think about the oppression and taboo to the women based on the cultural context and history.
